Tuscany is at the top of classifications about wine tourism

A fresh study in the tourism division and focused on Italy, exposed that the Italian tourism is principally driven by Tuscany, which remains at the top of the preferences of the tourists who want either to spend the holidays at the beach or to have a few days relaxing in the green of countryside, pampered by the comfortable amenities of the many tuscany villas. But the study for Traveler's Choice Awards 2012 wine destinations discovered another curious aspect, Tuscany is not only one of the best Italian regions for tourism, but also the place preferred by wine lovers around the world.

According to data collected, Tuscany beats Sonoma County in California, Hunter Valley in California, Hunter Valley in Australia, Stellenbosch in South Africa and Mendoza in Argentina, as a place for wine lovers. But in the classification of the best Italian wine destinations does not appear only Tuscany, with some of his most famous wines such as Brunello di Montalcino, Chianti Classico and Nobile di Montepulciano, but also other regions of the beautiful country such as Umbria, thanks its Sagrantino di Montefalco or Orvieto Classico, Sicily, with the historically famous Nero d'Avola, the Marsala and Etna wines. The winners were selected considering the fame of specific wine destinations, of course calculating reviews and traveler ratings passionate about wine but also paying attention to quality of services and standard of accommodations.

Clearly this award given to Tuscany made proud operators for both tourism and wine; Cristina Scaletti, councilor for tourism, culture and trade in the Region of Tuscany, said: "This award makes us proud and rewards us for the job done until now. Being in Europe, the land of wine even surpassing competitors is a great incentive to do better. There is no better gratification than to see recognized this passion and know that there are tourists and travelers who want to share it with us."
